MRP Production Planning Group
Groups component demand from manufacturing orders into production planning groups for coordinated work center planning.
A production planning group is a logical planning record. Its membership is defined by selected raw-material moves. The module uses those moves to identify the affected manufacturing orders and work orders and provides a consolidated place from which planners can review and schedule that production activity.
Features
Adds production planning groups for organizing component demand across one or more manufacturing orders.
Provides a component planning view based on open raw-material moves.
Exposes production deadline, origin, customer, first work order, and planning work center information on component moves.
Supports grouping and filtering component demand by component, manufacturing order, work order, work center, customer, deadline, and planning group.
Creates a new planning group directly from a selection of plannable component moves belonging to one company and one component product.
Provides a wizard for creating a planning group, assigning an existing group, or clearing group assignments from component moves.
Accepts selections originating from component moves, manufacturing orders, or work orders.
Suggests planning-group names from the component reference and current ISO calendar week.
Derives the related manufacturing orders and work orders from the component moves assigned to each planning group.
Shows a planning group as the summary group on a manufacturing order when its assigned component moves resolve to exactly one group.
Automatically creates missing work center planning lines for work centers found on the related manufacturing orders.
Allows planners to define a start and optional end for each work center planning line.
Sequentially assigns planned start and finish times to eligible work orders, ordered primarily by manufacturing deadline.
Provides direct navigation from a planning group to its component moves, manufacturing orders, and work orders.
Provides list, pivot, graph, and printable reporting by planning group, manufacturing order, work center, and work order.
Includes component-move counts and PMIS dimension and piece totals in planning analysis.
The scheduling function is intentionally lightweight. It assigns work orders sequentially inside the configured work center windows. It is not a finite-capacity optimizer and does not perform calendar-aware conflict resolution or resource leveling between planning groups.
Configuration
The module requires mrp, stock, mrp_sale_info, and pmis_quant_measurements. No additional planning configuration is required beyond standard Odoo Manufacturing setup.
For work order scheduling, manufacturing orders must have work orders with work centers and expected durations. Planning groups automatically receive planning lines for the work centers found on their related manufacturing orders. The planner can adjust the start and optional end of each line before applying the plan.
The PMIS Quant Measurements dependency supplies the component dimension and piece information shown in planning and reporting. These values are informational in this module; their calculation and validation remain the responsibility of the measurement module.
The supplied ACLs allow all internal users to create, edit, and delete planning groups and planning lines and to read the planning analysis. This addon does not define a dedicated planner role or company record rules for these models. Company fields and the wizard's new-group check do not establish isolation of planning records or the SQL analysis. Restrict access appropriately when using multiple companies.
Usage
Open Manufacturing → Production Planning → Component Planning.
Filter the open raw-material moves that should be planned together.
Group the records as needed by Component, Manufacturing Order, Work Order, Work Center, Customer, or Planning Group.
Select component moves and create a new production planning group or assign them to an existing group.
Open the planning group and review its grouped components, manufacturing orders, and work orders.
Review the automatically created work center planning lines and adjust their start and optional end times.
Apply work center planning to assign sequential start and finish times to eligible work orders.
Use the planning-group analysis or printable reports to review component demand, PMIS dimensions and pieces, expected durations, actual durations, deadlines, and late completion.
Only component moves linked to manufacturing orders, carrying a product, and not in the done or cancelled state are considered plannable.
Creating a planning group directly from component moves requires the selection to contain one component product and one company. The assignment wizard can assign mixed component products to an existing planning group or create a new mixed-product group; unlike direct creation, the wizard does not require a single component product. New-group creation still requires one company.
The wizard's Components Only setting does not prevent the manufacturing-order summary from updating: component assignment also synchronizes that summary through the stock-move write hook. Assigning an existing group does not perform the same company-selection check as creating a new group; select a group belonging to the components' company.
Selecting work orders in the wizard uses their move_raw_ids when that field is available. It does not fall back to all components of the related production; a selection without eligible component moves raises an error.
A manufacturing order displays a planning group only when its assigned component moves resolve to exactly one group. If its component moves belong to multiple groups, the manufacturing-order summary field remains empty because a single value cannot represent all of them.
Work orders inherit that manufacturing-order summary. Applying a group's plan considers all non-done, noncanceled work orders of its related manufacturing orders, rather than only an operation consuming the selected component. It can therefore also change dates for work orders already in progress. Durations use duration_expected with a minimum of one minute. If the next work order exceeds a planning line's end, scheduling stops for that line; subsequent work is left unscheduled by that line. Existing planning lines are not removed when a work center is no longer represented.
Planning analysis repeats a manufacturing order's grouped component totals for each related work order. Summing those totals across work orders can therefore count the same component demand more than once. Use the component moves for unduplicated demand quantities.
Upgrade notes
The 18.0.1.1.0 migration scripts rename predecessor mrp_component_campaign models, tables, fields, and external IDs into this addon's planning-group names. They use openupgradelib and check for conflicting schema or assignments rather than silently merging differences. Post-migration checks verify preserved group IDs, planning dates, and component and manufacturing-order assignments. Derived report views are rebuilt.
These scripts are upgrade code, not a manual data-import action or an automatic guarantee that installing a differently named addon migrates the predecessor. An existing predecessor deployment needs an upgrade plan that invokes the appropriate migration path.
Bug Tracker
Bugs are tracked on PMISuite Repository Issues. Before opening a new issue, check whether it has already been reported. Include the module and Odoo versions, steps to reproduce, and expected and actual results. Use synthetic examples and redact sensitive information.
