PMIS Base Website
Designate a replacement protected default website when the original Odoo website is obsolete. The former default can then be deleted through Odoo's normal deletion workflow, subject to its remaining dependencies.
Features
Administrator-only Set as Default Website action with confirmation.
Read-only Protected Default Website indicator on website forms and lists.
Reassigns Odoo's existing website.default_website external identifier.
Retains Odoo's deletion protection for the newly designated default.
Requires write access to both the former and replacement default websites.
Requires both websites' companies to be enabled for the administrator.
Preserves the designation across ordinary module updates.
Configuration
Requires Odoo 18 Community and website. No additional OCA addon is required. Installing this addon leaves the existing default designation unchanged.
The acting user must have Settings administration rights. Enable the companies of both websites in the company selector before switching between companies. The protected default is database-wide; it is not a separate setting per company.
Usage
Open Website > Configuration > Websites. Enable developer mode if this menu is not visible.
Open the website that should replace the obsolete default.
Select Set as Default Website and review the confirmation.
Confirm the change. The website form reloads with its default indicator set.
If the former website is no longer needed, review its content and dependencies, then delete it using the standard website deletion action.
Changing the default does not delete either website. The newly designated default remains protected until another website replaces it. Switching back is supported while the former website still exists.
Known limitations
Pages, menus, themes, attachments, and business records are not transferred. Review these before deleting an obsolete website. Standard deletion may remove related content or be blocked by other dependencies.
Domain matching, fallback website order, browser website selection, and company website selection retain their standard Odoo behavior. Reorder the website list separately when changing the fallback for unmatched hostnames.
Modules and integrations that resolve website.default_website will subsequently use the replacement. Existing website-specific records retain their original relationships. Newly installed apps can configure the new default through that external identifier.
A missing, malformed, or dangling default reference must be repaired before using the action; it does not guess which website should be replaced.
Removing this addon leaves the reassigned core external identifier in place.
TODO
Migration of website content and related business records is outside the current implementation.
Bug Tracker
Bugs are tracked on PMISuite Repository Issues. Before opening a new issue, check whether it has already been reported. Include the module and Odoo versions, steps to reproduce, and expected and actual results. Use synthetic examples and redact sensitive information.
